Parliamentary inquiry into regulatory approaches to ensure the safety of pet food
On 20 June 2018, the Senate moved that possible regulatory approaches to ensure the safety of pet food, including both the domestic manufacture and importation of pet food, be referred to the Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport References Committee for inquiry. Read the FIAAA submission here.
Import Conditions – FIAAA submission to DAWR
In 2017 FIAAA made a submission to the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (DAWR) review of import conditions for stockfeed (Feed Ingredients and Additives).
Export Control Bill 2017 – FIAAA submission to DAWR
The FIAAA made a submission on behalf of member companies to the DAWR review of export legislation. The changes are largely to consolidate existing legislation. Nevertheless, as several of our members are involved in exports it was important to contribute to the review.
The legislation aims to improve management of NPG exports. NPG are “non prescribed goods”, which is where many feed ingredients and additives fit into the legislation.
Any changes are still some time away and the FIAAA will stay close to the process. NPG will be managed largely through “Rules” attached to the legislation. Development of these rules will commence in 2018.
