Code of Practice and Certification

Stewardship for the good of the food chain

The FIAAA Code of Practice has an important role in the stewardship endeavours of our members. It is recognised that certification to the Code gives assurance of the quality of of our members’ products.

All in the chain of consumption of feed ingredients benefit from the quality and safety assurance delivered by the FIAAA Code of Practice.

Certification of Feed Ingredient and Additive suppliers to the Code gives assurance to: stockfeed manufacturers, livestock producers, food manufacturers, retailers, and food consumers in the general public.

Protecting the health of livestock.

Enabling producers to achieve expected levels of livestock performance.

Protecting the health of consumers of food products derived from livestock fed ingredients and additives.

Contributing to the delivery of livestock products of consistent and appropriate quality

Enabling livestock producers to market food commodities that meet national and international food standards

The Code is based on international best practice. It succeeds through insistence on:

  • Resource management & Traceability of supply
  • Product and component standards
  • Quality document systems

  • principles of feed and food safety
  • HACCP principles

APPLICABIITY

The code is applicable to:

  • Australian and New Zealand suppliers at all stages of production and supply to the feed manufacturing industry.
  • Domestically produced and imported feed ingredients and additives.

Additionally, the Code may form the basis for certifying product for export market access.

 

FEEDSAFE

is the national QA accreditation program for the Australian stockfeed industry. Accreditation is provided to feed manufacturers based on minimum Code of Good Manufacturing Practice standards. To view a listing of FeedSafe accredited sites refer to the SFMCA website www.sfmca.com.au

FIAAA members comply with the Code.

They are subject to regular third party audits to ensure compliance.

Only Certified members may use the very recognisable FIAAA logo.
